Thoughts from my study part 2

After writing the previous section I was not finished reading. As I read further Cleon Skousen referred to the Lamanites coming and sweeping through the America’s if the gentiles did not repent. In whatever this is to occur, there is no question that is it prophesied in the Book of Mormon. The references were continually reverting to 3 Nephi. I turned to chapter 16 to read verse 10, but my curiosity led me to read the whole chapter. The Savior is telling the people of the America’s that the gentiles are going to have their chance to accept the gospel and if they do not then it will be they (the posterity of Lehi) who will be their destruction. Verse ten speaks most clearly of what the “gentiles” will be like in bringing such destruction upon themselves, stating;

“At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all other nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they reject the fullness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fullness of my gospel from among them.”

That is right in line with President Kimball’s prophecy. When the gentiles of America reach these points of wickedness then the gospel will be taken from them, and then will they be destroyed.

“if the Gentiles do not repent after the blessing which they shall receive, after they have scattered my people- Then shall ye, who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and non can deliver.”

3 Nephi 20:15-16

So our country is receiving great chances to accept the gospel but if they are wicked then they will lose the chance and be destroyed as previously shown. The saints are going to be persecuted and will suffer a great deal in all of this. President Wilford Woddruff’s testimony seals what I have read and written today;

"I warn future historians to give credence to my history; for my tersitmony is true, and the truth of its record will be manifest in the world to come. All the words of the Lord will be fulfilled upon the nations, which are written in this book. The American nation will be broken in pieces like a potter’s vessel, and will be cast down to hell if it does not repent-and this, because of murders, whoredoms, wickedness and all manner of abominations, for the Lord has spoken it.”

President Wilford Woodruff

Cowley, p. 500

From my own personal studies of the scriptures I have come to see that the Lord will destroy cities and nations when they are fully ripe with iniquity. Traditionally this is not only when they are full of sin but when they are making a point to hinder, stop, and otherwise destroy the work of the Lord. To date I do not see that to be the case in the united states of america (thankfully), but according to the above prophecies the persecution of the saints and church comes next (following our financial bondage), and from a historical view that will be the last straw. We will be persecuted and tried beyond what we can or want to fathom and then comes the end of this nation, they will be ripe and their purpose fulfilled.

In an attempt to make this not so gloomy, I would state that this should bring great joy to our hearts. We are given the chance to know what is going to happen and how to prepare. We know that we should be attempting to stabilize our finances and prepare for difficult times so we can stand ready for our callings and preparing the earth for the second coming of our Savior.
